The following is intended to help you understand the processes involved with a Web Site project from start to finish.
^Step 1: Domain Registration
Choosing your domain.:
Purchasing your own domain name is like buying a piece of real estate in the world of the Internet.
Once you have that piece of real estate, what you build on it is up to you.
You domain name will consist of whatever you choose to name your piece of property. i.e.
"yourdomainname" This name will be followed by a chosen extension.
Some examples are:(.com .net .org .us .biz .info .tv .ws .cc )
So now you have a domain name called, "yourdomainname.com"
* Please note that the .com, .net and .org extensions are the most highly coveted.
jwhowarddesign can take care of setting up your domain name for you for a one time charge of $25.00.
If you would rather do this yourself it is really not that difficult.
It is important to note that you may need to be a bit creative with your naming because
of the availability of common domain names. If you are looking to get realestate.com,
you are out of luck. You can get a good feel of how this will work by going to a site
like Register.com and using their domain name lookup.
Just type in the idea you have for the name of your website and hit the go button... "good luck!"
^Step 2: Web Site Hosting
Hosting Setup:
Hosting fees vary depending on the website level and the amount of interactivity on the site. Normally hosting is
charged at a monthly rate. A simple 5 page website will only cost the minimum rate usually between $5.00 -$15.00, where a shopping cart site
may cost between $30.00 - $ 40.00 per month. jwhowarddesign can take care of setting up you hosting for you for a one time charge of $25.00.
We deal with a few strong, reliable web hosting companies. Depending on your specific needs we can recommend a hosting company for you
that will have all of the hosting options that will pertain to your website and company needs.
^Step 3: Email Hosting
Email Accounts:
Full Email and web mail Support
When jwhowarddesign recommends a hosting company for your website you also
get full email and web mail support included with your hosting. You will receive between 10 - 25
email accounts depending on the hosting plan you choose. These email addresses will be "at" your
own domain name, for example: yourname@yourdomainname.com. Whether you are at the office, at
home or on the go, you will be able to stay up to date with your email.
Email Features Include:
In addition to 10 email accounts that are compatible with any POP3 email program
(such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.) you will also have many other great capabilities:
- Multiple email aliases
- Email forwarding
- Email auto-responders
- web mail access
- Spam filtering
- Support documents that help you set up your email program
- Additional email accounts are available
^Step 4: The Website Process
Preliminary Stage:
Getting started with a new website or transferring your existing website is a
straight forward process.
- Contact us to discuss the website project that you are envisioning. We will provide a
Creative Interview Form that will help you gather the needed
ideas for the project.
- We will meet with you to discuss this form and thoroughly discuss the other project details including the site map.
- We determine a web site map, pricing, terms and other details of agreement and present you with a Proposal.
- Upon approval of this Proposal we will move to the next step.
- We will present you with a graphical proof based on the ideas that were discussed.
-
A. Upon your approval of this graphical proof we will begin the next stage of the web development process.
B. If it is decided that this design is not a good representation of the ideas that were discussed in
our meetings and those stated on the Creative Interview Form and that
the design cannot be modified to become the final product you envisioned, then we will go back and start
the process over.
Search Engine Optimization Information: (Free Submission)
To market you website you will need to submit it to the leading Search Engines. Submitting to Search Engines is an essential
yet confusing process that will require some work on your companies end. We will supply you with a list of about 5 of the most
relevent Search Engines to submit to or we can submit your site to these search engines for a one time fee of $100.00.
Search engines basically look at 4 major pieces of a website that determines how high they will list that website
in their search results.
They are:
- META TAG "Keywords" - Your company will need to come up with a list of about 25 of the most likely words "Keywords",
that a user of a Search Engine will use, that would pertain to the products or services that your company provides.
- META TAG "Description" - Your company will need to come up with a short, concise description of what your company represents.
Within this description you want to use the "Keywords" that you have chosen in sentences that describe your products and services.
- Page Titles - You should have a separate "Page Title" for each page of the website that will show up as part of the listing
description of that page in the Search Engines results.
- Page Content - The Page Content is the actual text that the user will be reading on the web page.
Your company should choose one page that you really want to fill with the most pertinent information
about your products and services. You will also want to try to use your "keywords" as often as possible in this content.
This page will be the pages that you submit to the Search Engines. The Search Engines will then
move from that page to the other pages of your site.
* For more information on this process, I highly recommend the searchenginewatch.com website for a complete description of how Search Engines work.
Development Stage:
At this time the following items will be needed.
- Domain has been purchased and is active.
- Hosting has been set up and has resolved the Domain.
- Site Map is approved
- Design is approved
- Optimization Information has been provided
- The content for the pages is being created
^Step 5: Making it Live!
Upon completion of the Development stage and final approval of all aspects of the website project:

- The website will be submitted to the 5 major Search Engines.
- Email accounts will be setup
